Taipei-like weather in Kaohsiung

It’s not a very nice day today in Kaohsiung.
And it looks like the weather will get worse before it gets better:

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Temperatures are set to drop further before the end of the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday, the Central Weather Bureau said Wednesday.
Tamshui on the north coast registered lows of around 11 degrees centigrade Wednesday morning while snow fell on Taiwan’s tallest peak, the Jade Mountain or Yushan, the bureau said. The outlying islands of Kinmen and Matsu, close to the coast of China’s Fujian Province, recorded lows of 10 degrees.
The bureau issued both low-temperatures and heavy-rain alerts for the north, northeast, and for mountainous areas in the center and south Wednesday. Heavy or even torrential rain was expected in those areas, with visibility low in the mountains of North and Central Taiwan.
Thursday and Friday were likely to see the lowest temperatures, with the mercury dropping to below 10 degrees in regions north of Chiayi and along the east coast, forecasters said. Rain would still occur, but in short intervals, according to the bureau.
Highs in the north would only reach 13 degrees, with 20 degrees only likely in the two southernmost counties, Pingtung and Taitung.
The weather was unlikely to warm up until Sunday, the final day of the nine-day holiday period, to reach 20 degrees all over the island, the bureau said.
The government department cautioned motorists to drive carefully amid unfavorable weather conditions, while farmers should take care to protect their animals against the cold.
While Yushan was covered in 7 centimeters of snow, Mount Hohuan in Nantou County drew the highest numbers of sightseers Tuesday, reports said. However, motorists bracing traffic jams and foggy conditions only arrived at a high altitude to see the snow had already been washed away by the rain, reports said.
